Sunday Blog Showcase: Quest for the Vault Disney

The first question you might ask about this blog is “What is “the Vault Disney” supposed to mean?” And to get that, you have to be aware of the phrase “The Disney Vault”, referring to Disney’s business practice of rereleasing their films every few years for a limited time only, then returning them to “The Vault”.

As to how that relates to Quest for the Vault Disney, this blog – run by Jesse Stephenson – initially was started to chronicle the Disney releases and encourage them to “unvault” more of their huge untapped history of TV shows and movies, some of which haven’t seen the light of day in decades.  So hence, the name.  But the blog expanded from there as Jesse delved more into history as well, and now the blog covers not only Disney media but also history of the Disneyland park, and a lot more. It’s not defined on the “About” page, but he covers characters, company history, and even the infamous “Dining on $40 a Day” challenge made popular by (among others) Enchanted Tiki Talk podcast.

As a lifetime east-coaster, I do have a bias towards WDW. This isn’t a bias of “they’re just better!” but of familiarity; to me, “going to Disney!” equals Disney World.  Don’t ask me which is better: I can’t tell you, I can only say how much I love the one I go to regularly. 🙂 But, due to that bias of familiarity, I do frequent more blogs that keep that same bias and talk more about WDW.  This isn’t intentional and so I’m glad to find blogs that fill in the blanks and look at Disneyland, which is after all the original Disney Park.  And the history is that much more meaningful to Walt Disney fans.  Jesse previously ran an entire series on ExtinctAttractionLand (note: this is not the first post in the series, just one I liked), looking over some classic attractions that are no longer with us – or in some cases, attractions that have been brought back.

As I mentioned though, there is plenty of general Disney history to go over, including Dick Van DykeWalt Disney and the Oscars! And a personal fave, the early days of Disney video rentals. I am just young enough that I did not know this. 😀

OK, I have flung enough links at you. (Well, one more. Best of the Worst list, about Disney Villains, because I indirectly inspired it.) Now GO catch up for yourself on the blog!

More Adventures in the Tiki Hut…

Logo4

“Hut” on the heels (oh my gosh, I need to just delete that right now. WHY am I not deleting it?!) of my last Enchanted Tiki Talk Podcast post, here’s another! Because the episodes keep coming and I keep listening and it’s all good! 😀

Episode 17: Disney Hangover
Keith and Alan just got back from Disney in this ep.

Sean: “Keith, you left nice, sunny, warm Ohio, right?”
Keith: “Uh, where was this?”

Getting stuck at Disney is like everyone’s DREAM. Not even joking.

Ohhh, Keith had the cheerleaders. Man! I think we might’ve been there for like a day or two at the same time as some cheerleaders. They were walking around Pop with a TON of glowing balloons. I was like “Good luck getting to sleep tonight…”

Talk of beef makes me hungry. Every time. I almost never ever BUY red meat/beef at home so I only eat it at restaurants. Meaning I have high standards for my beef and steak. Awww yeah.  I feel like eating some beef right now.  I’m not sure what this is all about, actually…

AAACK! Alan had School Bread, finally!  That’s a mostly positive, if unenthusiastic review. LOL. I wouldn’t run to order it again either. But there’s actually nothing at WDW that I do feel that way about.

PORK SHANK. Man I want some meat right now.

Keith’s single solitary turkey leg on the trip is still one more than I have EVER had, so there’s that.

I liked the MagicBands too! I also did not use it for charging to the room. I was completely on cash and gift cards as much as possible. But I loved the convenience.

Agreed on people hating on FastPass+ just for the sake of hating on it. Those who have tried it and have complaints I am fine with, but there are a lot who just hate the idea, and honestly… the idea itself is not a bad one. And the whole process is under development.  To hate the whole thing because of how it looks today is just not logical.

Good trip reports guys! 😀

…Be sure.. to drink your… Cheerwine. A crummy commercial?!

Episode 18: 40 Disney Dollars a Day at Downtown Disney
Uh-oh. This is it… I’ve reached “my” episode… DundunDUNNNNN! Fortunately there’s another guest, the excellent Matt Holley, so not all the focus is on me. Hahah. XD

But in all seriousness… this was an awesome time, very fun to record and I love playing the $40 at Disney game. And I’d never thought about it for Downtown Disney, so if you haven’t either… or if you HAVE… listen on!

My favourite part of doing this episode was when all the birds actually started singing live at the beginning.  I had thought that was pre-recorded, but boy was I wrong!… 😉

“But first, before we play, Rebecca, tell a little bit about yourself to our audience!”
Me: “OH, uh…” Yeah, I didn’t expect that. LOL. So I go on a bit much.  Pffff. XD

I have never actually been to the Ghirardelli Soda Shop. To my EXTENSIVE regret. 🙂  But to be honest… I’m not all that much of a “must-do” snack person. I get really picky b/c I don’t like to spend a lot of money so I bring my own snacks in. Heh. I do like me a Mickey bar but not an option here… I don’t really blame Matt for getting a sundae. I mean if you’re going to go ice cream why not go big?

I like Keith’s choice for a snack. I would never think of bread pudding as a snack but it sounds AMAZING. 🙂

Sean was absolutely cheap-o. CHEAP. O.

Aaaand now I want barbeque for lunch. You know what I had? a lousy sandwich. Two pieces of wheat bread and some turkey slices.

Alan quizzing me about barbeque.  I will not commit, hahaha, and the hardest thing in the world is to get an opinion out of me if I don’t hold it PASSIONATELY. (and I don’t about barbeque.) I will eat ANY barbeque right now. The more different kinds the better. OH MAN I wish I had some barbeque right now! XD

Matt’s quick service choice sounds good too. I think actually there is the slightest chance I may just be hungry. 😛

The OTHER sandwich place…  Actually their menu looks amazing. I would have a very hard time deciding on just two or three sandwiches. I think I could choose just one if I had to, but if someone told me “pick three” I’d go nuts.

I really DO like themed restaurants a lot. I am not saying I don’t like good food but I do prefer experience over food quality. Just a thing about me. XD

And next time I go to T-Rex I am going to bring my bathing suit. 😛

People get heated about a lack of gum for sale in the store. This is because people want what they want and they don’t care about rules. They are at DISNEY WORLD and they’re supposed to get what they WANT.

I want some dips too. (Remember what I said that I might be hungry? There’s no longer any doubt.)

Keith not only got closest to exactly $40, he also had a great “Haha! SCORE!” reaction when he announced his total.

I survived the season of the dinosaurs! And a meteor shower!  Sean’s all trying to make this into a competition and take me down, I’m having none of it. And Alan’s in my corner. So THERE. XD  Though I’ll admit that the Irish Step Dancing is quite impressive. I think Sean was just trying slightly harder because he thought he was going to be closest on his total, but Keith beat him.

A warning to anyone who is vaguely considering appearing as a guest on Tiki Talk: you will be asked about Cheerwine. I’m just saying. It’s not a bad thing, just know in advance. You’re going to be quizzed about it.

Matt has guts to bring up the Starbucks on Main Street knowing fully well that Keith and Alan have oppositional opinions about it. Mwhaahaha.

Listen to me answering these questions like I knew in advance what I was going to say! XD  I love Matt’s answers. He puts so much detail into them.  And I’m like “Haunted Mansion. Boom.” Except I didn’t literally say “Boom”.

WHY is it that every podcast episode I’m on, people start talking about peeing? I’m really starting to be concerned about this. 😛

Leave some messages and responses and reviews and things to let the guys know how much you want me to come back on the show! Or, even better, just review and rate the show on iTunes. 🙂  Mentioning me: optional.

Episode 19: Poly Want a Show! Part 1

Congrats to the Tiki Talk show for their partnership with V24Radio!

Keith! What could you POSSIBLY not like about the Polynesian?! (I am kidding. Just FYI. I got it.^_~)

I never really did think about West Coast = Hawaii Vacations, East Coast = Caribbean/Bahamian vacations…

So they’re using Aulani’s space as an inspiration for the Poly’s spacial redesign? Hm. I’m not opposed to reorganizing space.  I hope they will continue to have a water feature in the lobby though.

Ew! Bacterial parasite! Well then the waterfall is allowed to go.

But but but a glass bottom would be so neat… IF you had a lagoon or something right underneath. “If you had that, what would you look at?” LOL really now. But the neat idea put forth that the “glass” could be a screen to make it look like it’s water beneath.

When Poly goes DVC, a week’s worth of points to pay for a studio would be the cost for a bungalow. GAWRSH 😦  This may not be true, just a “buzz”.

Episode 20:  Walk Up and Eat
Hey! Stacey did an Enchanted Tiki Talk blurb!  You are now officially a Must-Do! 😀

I am glad to hear a positive opinion of the moat-draining on the Hub expansion. Lots of people have that “HOW COULD THEY?” response to, well, anything that gets done these days at WDW.  As Sean says, they’re not really using the moat anyway and this should really improve flow of people.

Mmmm, man, I really want to go to the Flower & Garden Festival one of these years.

I went to Fairfax Fare last trip. I wasn’t happy with what I got though, but I think that’s my own fault. I don’t really like park mac and cheese, but I got a hot dog with mac and cheese and bacon on it… I really just made a bad choice, I’m going to try it again.

And I have never been to Pecos Bill’s.  Despite YEARS of hearing how many people love it.

Sunshine Sheashons is a very, very good counter service place. Last time I ate there it was easy to find stuff for me and for my daughter and we have ENTIRELY different things we want out of theme park food. 😉

I had one really good experience/meal at Casey’s and one not so good experience/meal there – I wouldn’t say bad, just not what I was hoping for. So I’m a little on the fence about them right now.

I LOVE RIBS. Yaaaay!

Flame Tree Barbeque: just hearing that restaurant’s name makes me drool with barbeque fantasies. Ahhhhh.  It SOUNDS like perfectly-cooked BBQ.

I can’t remember if I did a Top 5 counter service post on my blog. If I didn’t, I should. I don’t think I did, I think I’ve done a review of Flame Tree BBQ and that’s what I’m thinking of. 😉

I love that outtake. “What was that?! Did you just like, vomit?”

Episode 21: Poly Want a Show! Part 2
More Poly Talk!  I hope everyone will forgive me but I have no notes on this episode. I don’t know a lot about the Poly except that I really want to stay there, so I have nothing at all to contribute to the discussion. It is, however, a very good interview whether you’re familiar with the Polynesian or not!  So, enjoy!

Episode 22: Our Must Do Interview
Stacy J. Aswad on your Must-Do Podcast! I realize that Rolly Crump is a bigger Disney legend but I have a platonic crush on the adorable Ms. Aswad so I’m more excited about her appearance than any others so far. Ahem. *^_^*

The Must-Do Disney program is part scripted and part improved, which is not a surprise to me; it’s the improvs, I think, that are why I like her so much.  Stacy’s sincerity shines through when she’s being silly and she reminds me of a dear friend of mine, so she transcends the “typical” script!

Sean invented Supercalifragilisticexpialidocius. The word I mean. And Stacy has fulfilled a lifelong dream by meeting him. “I was like Dear Diary, someday I hope to meet the person who made up…”

“As long as I’m breathing, it’s not impossible.” I love this. 🙂

Another great interview, great show, and great guest. 😀

Oh, and then Alan rubs in the fact that he took a surprise trip to WDW. Good for yooooou, Alan. ;P

Annie and Danny takin’ over your blog

Or not. I’m just trying to suggest that they are up in your internet right now. 🙂  In other words, notes on the past month or so of episodes, plus a couple of older ones!  Listen and enjoy, especially to Episode 27, which for reasons unknown is just FABULOUS. *lalala…*  Oh, and the notes for the episode started getting long recently. I don’t know why, I’m serious, but I’m kind of trying to dial it back…

Episode 26:
Annie the Robot. Well okay! 😀

OOooh!  Disney cookin’, Dan style!  For the record I have made Boatwright style Sweet Potato Pancakes. They were good but I didn’t do anything special with them so none of my customers paid for them. My customers were my husband and children so I let it slide.

Ticket price increase. From what I have heard on Internet, “to the ire of everyone” is not exactly true. You’ll hear from many people defending Disney’s right to raise their prices by $10 over 2 years if they feel like doin’ it. 😉  For me it’s… complicated and like with anything complicated I tend not to express an opinion.  Other than the way I put it there, lol.

To relate it to this show though, I love that you guys argue about almost every subject you tackle. Dan and I had a conversation about how in my last post I made it sound like they’re both jerks (okay that’s not what he said *lol*) when I said they are cranky about popular things, but what I really meant about it is that they both hold strong opinions but even when they do the other one usually holds the other opinion. So Annie and Dan get into these awesome debates and usually cover everything I feel PLUS the other perspective.  These discussions are great, seriously. I actually find them enlightening.

This is the worst elevator story I’ve ever heard! And I have had times when, not fooling, I’ve been sure that right before my elevator doors closed I would be attacked by the killer in the “Scream” movies. (this has been a fear since 1998, I’m dating myself.)

Big Thunder Oz? D:  I agree about the freaking mutiny Annie refers to. There is not a shortage of people ready and willing to go on that ride!

Universal is “New Money” and Disney is the old-fashioned lady saying “I can’t believe she’s drinking in diamonds at lunch time!” –I didn’t come up with that, that was Annie. But I paraphrased a tiny bit hence the partial quotes.

Is this the first time Dan has dropped the F-bomb? LOL probably not, but… it stood out for me 😉

Veiled classism! No actually Robot Annie is making for deep discussion! ;D No but seriously… this person came to hate Disney World so much after working there that they have to sign up onto forums just to tell everyone how awful it really is and they don’t realize it?  “I’ve seen the REAL Disney World and it’s not what you think it is!”

Robot Annie is not a science-tist.

I will say I hate leaving the parks at night and having to take the bus back. That specifically is the main reason I prefer to have my car. I’ll take the bus to get there in the mornings, return to the hotel for a break, and then drive back in the aftern oon/evening so I can drive back at close/whenever we leave.  I have had the experience the person was complaining about, and it’s hard.

Having said that, I wouldn’t write an entire “I would not stay here again!” post based just around that experience. LOL.

I LOVE Flame Tree Barbeque! Annie you have to go there it’s so good! Ahhhh. 😀  Funny thing is that I apparently have similar taste in restaurants to Dan.  Huh.  Not that I dislike the ones Annie is picking but I haven’t been to most of them. Or any, actually.

Though really I haven’t been to ABC Commissary either.  I’ve been to Backlot Express and I kind of think they’re the same? (They’re not)  But I think they’re similar and I love Backlot Express.

OHHHHH I haven’t been to Yorkshire County Fish Shop. Broke the similarity streak there, Dan. 😦  You should’ve picked something else.

But we got it back on the Boma/Jiko part. Score. 🙂

No, Be Our Guest is Counter Service for lunch and Table Service for dinner.  So it’s BOTH!

!!!  ANNIE! My worst dining experience was at Tony’s too! It was actually quite nice IN the restaurant but my food was weirdly sweet.  I don’t know but it was yicky to me.

This episode was like The Distant Future, The Year 2000.

Episode 8:
This episode is starting out with some real ol’ country rhythm.

Dan: We’re recording this a little bit in the past…
Annie: We’re recording this in September, that should give you an idea, because you’re going to be like “D*** it’s August!”
–And she immediately starts laughing b/c as she said it she realized what she was saying. XD

By the way, “D***, it’s February!”  I think that EVERY episode. 😉 [It’s now March so… there’s that.]

Sometimes… I get this strange impression that Annie, maybe, just maybe, gives Dan a hard time for no reason but to give him a hard time.  I don’t know. Maybe I’m imagining it. (Sarcasm is hard to pick up on in a blog so… it’s thick in this statement.)

All this time listening to the show and I’m finally finding out about Dan’s wife Kasmira. Frequently mentioned but rarely in personal detail!

OMG! This episode was before Frozen came out! Annie doesn’t understand why everyone apparently hates it in advance. LOL.

Why does everyone discuss the sexual orientation of the Winnie the Pooh characters?  I won’t ask why everyone thinks Rabbit is gay, because well, EVERYONE thinks Rabbit is gay. *shrug* 🙂

HAHA, Annie’s story about responding to forwards with Snopes.com articles… I do that too and every time I do people seem vaguely offended as if I’m calling them stupid. XD

Annie: “If you are listening to this and you don’t know Would You Rather, then we need to become best friends immediately so I can teach you about everything that’s fun in life.”
That’s actually the kindest thing I’ve ever heard. I usually say “then we aren’t friends” or something like that. LOL, because I’m callous that way.

I LOVE Tom Bergeron! 😀

You know, I can’t say “never ever again” to anything. So I pick the limit of SSE to once per trip. Because on my last two trips I’ve only managed to ride it once anyway. 😛  I’ve only had 2 Dole Whips in my entire life but I like having the option.

I’ll take the Deluxe upgrade on my suite thanks.

OMG the third question is HARD. I have NO idea what I would answer.

Dan, you are so lucky you have never seen any ads or anything of those stupid Buddies movies.  Ugh. No. You’re wrong about it, Dan. You’re just WRONG.

Dan: “Secret time, I don’t like kids very much…”
This is the worst-kept secret on earth, Dan. 😉  This is even worse-kept than when they used to call the DVC the best-kept secret. XD

And this inspires a great performance from Annie.

Episode 9:
“This is Episode 9, can you believe it?”
“No!”
“She can’t.”

Life before Twitter… It’s like the Time of Legends!

I have the same reactions to a lot of things as Annie does with Cinderella – yeah, I know I saw this as a kid, but then when I watch it I’m like “OH GEEZ this is burned into my memory now!”

Incidentally the term “burned into my memory” is appropriate with this one; it was never a favourite, but my sister watched it perhaps once a day every day one summer, so I had it kind of memorized. And I don’t like it.  I don’t know if it’s because I saw it so many times (even peripherally) at age 10, or if I just think it’s bad, but I’ve shown it to my kids perhaps twice and I just go leave the room. Bleah.  Regardless, I KNOW I will remember it well enough to enjoy your discussion. 🙂

The trailers on Cinderella DVD… Chicken Little, Cinderella 3, Disney Princesses: A Christmas of Enchantment. This is just scraping the bottom of the barrel. 😛

You guys actually make me want to watch it again to look at the animation.  I haven’t paid too much attention to it since I’m not (notnotNOT) into the mice at all, but the Mary Blair parts make me interested.  My memory in the parts that I saw last time were that the animation was just meh.  Like it looks like the direct to video stuff in terms of quality.

Frog & Toad? The Fabulous Mr. Frog? LOL.

YES! It is like Tom & Jerry shorts in the start of the movie, BAH.  All the reasons I dislike this movie are flashing through my mind. XD

And also, I LOVE Alice in Wonderland. Just in case anyone thinks that, like, I hate fun or something.

This clock segment! Dear God XD

“I don’t think her life was that bad.”  Heehee. I’m kind of loving the turn this is taking. XD  I never bought Cinderella’s “so kind and loving that she’ll take everyone’s s***” attitude. Something else is up there.

I’m going to go to the Country Bear Jamboree someday! I never have. Ever. But I’m totally going to go!  I’ve tried to go the past two trips. LOLOL.

This Cinderella talking to the mice thing is one of the things that has always REALLY bugged me. Well ever since I was like 18 or so. 😉

Oh SWEET! More intermission music! The sad part is I legitimately bop around at my desk while this is going on.

And now I got to the part where the episode title comes from. Douchey nudist chickens. 😀  The hierarchy of the animals makes no sense. Too much of this movie has no thought in it and makes no sense! There is NO LOGIC!  Aaargh, HATE MOVIE!

No no, you guys, the cat’s name is “Lucy Fur”. I’m totally lying. But you could make that claim!  Maybe Lucifer is just what Cinderella calls him because she hates him so much.

I do love Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo. I actually totally do. XD

Dan: “You’ve become very antagonistic.”

That dress is not blue. It’s the colour of moonlight thank you.

Your final decision on this movie is much, much kinder than mine would be. There are a handful of good musical moments but I don’t share your liking of Cinderella – I’ll take Snow White over Cindy any day just because Cindy has no real personality. I’m sorry but as much as Snow might be an out of it baby-woman, at least she’s got a personality.
Episode 27:
The episode begins with Annie and Dan introducing themselves in NEARLY the same voice! Hmmm. You know – when I was on Skype with them, I could only see Annie. Dan’s video was not showing up for some reason. I am now convinced that Dan is not a real person, just a creation of Annie’s.

And then I brag about my legions of followers who do whatever I say. LOL. That’s so not true. XD

And begin the R. Kelly jokes! Whoop! Never gets old. 😉

I’m going to confess that I was very nervous about having the buzzer. Then I let Annie peer pressure me into using it constantly. Although it does seem that until you buzz Dan, he just keeps going, so I’m not sure WHO was right here.

Dan: “I have an inappropriate thing I want to say. I want it to be clear that I was the first person to ask you to be on a podcast.”

Sadly, not true. 🙂 But he wants it to be, so I think he gets major points for that.

Annie points out my favourite thing to do with these recaps, which is to take some of the funniest things they say and quote them without any context at all! It’s AWESOME. “Teachers are pedophiles all the time!”

And Dan is just sitting there patiently waiting for us to stop talking about bows. XD  But he’s not allowed to buzz!

And now somehow we end up on pee stories. See how can you not love a podcast that will spend a good 5 minutes talking about various kinds of pee stories? 😀  By the way my husband had a ton of follow-up questions on Dan’s story.

I’m not sure what I was buzzing.  I mean we weren’t talking about news anymore, just pee, so…

So then I got to firsthand experience how sometimes Annie will just challenge Dan on the news he’s reading as if he invented it and is like “But that’s STUPID! Why are you so stupid?!” in all but the words she uses. And sometimes in the words too. Oh, I love you guys, you’re very amusing. XD

Oh, and by the way, I have no concept of how much Legos actually cost. My “like $100” price tag is completely realistic and reasonable, thinking back.

Annie wouldn’t want Suri Cruise to be the prototypical rich kid to get her Spaceship Earth Lego set, once developed, because “She’d kick it over!”

I can’t believe how annoyed Dan got over the Tron comparison with Test Track and the announced Shanghai Disney (? was it that or Hong Kong) Tron Roller Coaster. “They’re not comparable. Not comparable!” The mean part of it is that I really did get what he was talking about, but I think Test Track is very Tron-inspired, so I just stuck with that argument. I’m not sure if it counts as trolling if it was done without malice… 😉

Oh here we are. “So R. Kelly, tell us about yourself…” and this is where I get embarrassingly bad here and say “Make something up.” I, augh, I cannot believe I did that. XD  Please don’t judge me!

On this podcast I learned that airplanes are just basically like big flying toilets. I mean between the pee stories and now the next discussion that has come up… This was supposed to be a discussion about travel agent stuff and here – I just… Well!

And here comes the Dining Plan discussion. This is probably what you most want to tune in for, guys. Here’s me trying not to encourage either Annie or Dan into arguing, which didn’t work. XD

Annie: “The Dining Plan is worth it if it’s free…”
Dan: “You know what else is worth if it’s free? A lollipop.”

Comparison = apt?  You decide, listeners!

Puttin’ me on the spot with questions about what kinds of surprises I’d do for Disney “Experts”, stuff like that… This poor guest sounds so nervous 😉

Oh, how I loved the best resort for a girls’ (adults) trip question.

Annie and Dan are so nice though. Everything I say they’re really nice about. They’re clearly taking pity on me. XD

“If you had to live in a ride like a bum, what ride would it be?”  My husband was in the room for this question, and he was like “Well, where else would you live? For all those reasons!”

Anyway… Sigh. 🙂 I can probably be funnier/more interesting on my next appearance. It was awesome. A++ would guest again! Especially for singing, although that would probably go best if I got some liquor in me first. 😀

Episode 28:
Nice opening music!

So ANNIE is Adele Dazeem. I thought it was me!  And I agree… that was just… SO BIZARRE. Hilarious and bizarre.

I was not watching the Oscars, I got my info JUST from Twitter, which was kind of hilarious.

Good point about the Croods – THE CROODS – being nominated over Monsters U. I think it’s politics. Like “Well Pixar just won last year and we’ll look like we’re just nominating it because it’s Pixar. We need another movie!”  Pffff. Monsters U was good.

ERNEST SCARED STUPID. 😀

St. Patrick’s Festival is ALREADY ON! Dude! It’s been on for 5 days already!!

I agree with Dan, this description sounds like ChumbaWumba. Dropkick Murphy? I haven’t heard of them. Apparently they sing about kicking things, according to Annie. XD

The rule about the 7 days’ worth of reservations in a 60-day window actually isn’t so bad, because it’s a rolling 60-day period rather than a set period. So you can do 7 days of reservations on Monday, then when you’ve used the first day you can go right in and make more if you want.

Why did Annie make me buzz Dan so much last show?  She hasn’t buzzed him at all this time. I feel like I was tricked into buzzing the poor guy. XD

OOOH! TWENTY QUESTIONS!  Attractions, questions, or resorts. I CAN DO THIS. I sucked at Birnbaum Blitz but that was Mickey Mutineers!

Dan: “See if you can beat us to the knowing.”
Annie: “I bet you can beat Dan.”
Dan: “How dare you.”

I love it when he says that! 😀

Annie: “Next week we’re going to play Monopoly.”
Dan: “But we’re not gonna narrate or anything, we’re just gonna play. Quietly. Just the sounds of the dice and the paper money…”
Annie: “And then the sound of me swiping the whole board off the table in a rage… and then the quiet sounds of Dan’s last breath.”

That escalated quickly! 😀

I should also mention there is this elevator music in the background and just… lol XD

Are there parades at Epcot?! 😛  Oh – I thought this was at Epcot. Never miiiind…  Annie’s AGONIZING over what she doesn’t like, hahaha.  Geez Annie! You gave up early! LOL!

GO DAN! He got it! 😀  The tension was incredible!

IS IT FORT WILDERNESS? IT IS ISN’T IT?  Oh.  I’m going to go with Annie’s reaction here. XD  “Does the name offend you?” Haha.

Annie gets bored, Annie starts singing her answers.

You guys really mess with me. Did Dan not ask “is it in Hollywood Studios?” Did Annie not say yes? But it wasn’t, it was in Animal Kingdom! So lost over here…

WAIT! I call foul! You can’t ask a question that is not yes or no! Dan you cheater!

Dan: “When did Dumbo come out? Like 1939?”
Annie: “Yeah, what were you, like, 25 when it came out?”
Dan: “Well, more like maybe 30?”

Timeless ride: Yeah it’ll totally be Haunted Mansion, or Pirates, for me.
Least timeless: would that be timeful? Anyway… I think American Idol Experience. That’s my thinkin’. Honestly though anything that ties into something current.  I keep praying that in another 5-10 years nobody will be into American Idol anymore. It’s not going to work that way for me. Sigh.

I can’t believe how well the I Dream of Jeannie music fits at the end here. Wow.

That’s it for this time but there are another two recent episodes I’m just not posting my write-ups on yet… I’ll try to have more earlier episodes too 🙂

Saturday Blog Showcase: Mouse on the Mind

It’s time, after a multi-week hiatus, for my blog showcase this weekend! And this week’s showcase is a long-0verdue nod to a blog that doesn’t really NEED a boost in traffic, since it’s a long-standing and popular one, but regardless a very deserving referral!

And that is to MouseOntheMind.com, by Melissa! Updated daily with pictures, reviews, opinions, LOTS of pictures, did I mention pictures?, and more, MotM follows weekly topics but doesn’t feel forced or locked into any routines because of it.  Right now, series include reviews of the in-park scavenger hunt-style games, such as Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, or Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure at Epcot; the sharing of a picture from each country in the World Showcase of a thing that makes Melissa happy; a Weekly Roundup of blog posts that caught Melissa’s eye; and of course the very popular monthly feature, “Kill, Marry, Refurb” that Mouse On the Mind co-posts with This Happy Place Blog (which I showcased waaaaay back when)!

Of recent posts, this review of the Wilderness Explorers at Animal Kingdom is a favourite since I’ve actually done this and really enjoyed it; a post about the benefits of an in-resort coffee kiosk is interesting even though I don’t drink coffee; thoughts and ideas about Disney-inspired nail art bring out a lot of creativity.  There’s a lot more – like many of the best Disney blogs, there is always something!  Go and browse and enjoy! Leave comments, too… Bloggers love nothing more than to get comments and feedback!

Happy weekend!

Rounding Out the Week with Annie and Danny

I’ve recapped several other podcasts so now I’ll just recap on the FastPass Podcast for you guys. There are only 4 eps in here – 2 new and 2 older – buuuuut I have a lot of notes on them. Plus it’s content. I mean how often do I have content on here? 😛

This is the ADFPPC logo. Pretty swank. ;D

I need more Annie & Danny themed pictures.

Episode 24:
Oooh, Highway To the Danger Zone!

I think Annie might like Val Kilmer in Willow. I’m not sure what those noises mean.

Dan just thanked the guest for having them on. XD

lebeauleblog.com.  I’ll just go looking for this now. I do in fact associate the name with Remy LeBeau.  GEEK TEST!

Thorough examinations of has-beens and never-weres? I’m really excited about this! LOL, that may be a little sad actually, how excited I am! XD

ABC has ordered another 8 episodes on Girl Meets World and it hasn’t actually aired yet. Huh. Worthwhile.

WAH Jim Cummings! He’s my favourite. This is why I don’t follow celebs on Twitter ever. XD I’m blissfully ignorant!

Whoa, so Mira Sorvino brings out all the celebs to the blog! Mira Sorvino. Huh. Wow.

Wait what? Elsa as a character is supposedly symbolic as anti-feminism?  Hm. I would buy the gay subtext more easily. Not saying I DO buy it… I’d have to think about it (and I hadn’t yet)… but I could see that more easily than Elsa as slut-shaming.  I kind of see the reverse, honestly. She accepts who she is and accepts her sexuality. I saw that song as positive, not negative.

Amused that prior to the Scientology comments Dan politely asks if the guest is a Scientologist. What about your listeners guys? (Not me.)  But you didn’t ask your listeners. XD

Maleficent is NOT in the Top 10? WRONG! HuffPo is MISTAKEN.  That’s all I’ve got.  Nope, NO, sorry, Lady Tremaine is NOT on the list when Maleficent is not.  Lady Tremaine is an abusive stepmother. Maleficent is a dark servant of Satan who puts a curse on a baby BECAUSE SHE WAS SNUBBED AT A PARTY.  Not to excuse abusive stepparents in ANY way, but you really can’t tell me Maleficent isn’t on Tremaine’s level.

See this is what happens when you get Angelina Jolie to play a character. Suddenly all the “cool” people hate her.  Ugh whatever.

Biff Tannen on Main Street USA. Bahaha.

You can hate on Mena Suvari, and on “Loser”, but don’t hate on Jason Biggs. Fingers crossed. Don’t hate on Jason. OK, whew! No hating. 😀

Now we’re back to Saving Private Banks. LOL.

I have never been to a timeshare presentation that was less than an hour. They’re usually 2-3 hours. I theorize this is because I’m so polite that they mistake my politely feigned interest for a sales lead and they put more time in on me, leading to frustration on all parts when I refuse. I need to stop being polite and start getting real, like they do on MTV’s The Real World. 😛

Everyone, follow this LeBeau guy on Twitter at @lebeausLeBlog! I did it! You wanna be cool like me right? (Wait, peer pressure is bad, maybe I should affect disinterest.)  Whatever, follow… or don’t. I don’t care…

Episode 6:
What a classy little “Be Our Guest” intro.

Dan is drinkin’! Dan’s lightweightness sounds like me. This is going to be familiar.

I am feeling the loathing of the Heimlich Chew-Chew Train. I don’t mean I agree, just that I can feel it eminating from this podcast.  Goofy’s Barnstormer is about the same length of time… Ahhh, but it was all worth it to hear Dan bust out a Heimlich. XD

LOL cheating on the Mater photo because kids make Dan nervous.

Annie: “9 times out of 10, Aurora just looks skanky.”
Dan: “Like she would just give it up?”
Annie clarifies that she means that Aurora looks like “the REAL princess couldn’t come in that day.”

Manlets?

Awww… nobody cares about Duffy? This is making my heart hurt! LOL, I like though that Dan felt it was really important to explain the scavenger hunt to the CM.

“Hey listeners” – that’s me! 😀 Oh, I’m late in giving good vibes.  But I do know the pain of being distracted from being able to rank things b/c you’re obsessed with something else.  I know that pain so, so well.

Geez, Annie, a spreadsheet with an equation and everything! The OCD side of me is HUGELY impressed.

I’ll sponsor a podcast trip! If someone else pays for it. (Apparently I am unclear on what sponsorship means.)

Annie sounds not just shocked, but DISMAYED by Dan’s #1 resort.  Disillusioned even.  (Look, no spoilers!)

Dan: “I’m a big Rainforest Cafe person, too…” What you can’t tell without listening to this is that his tone is completely apologetic. I keep thinking he’s going to be like “I’m a big Rainforest Cafe person… I’m sorry, guys.”

FWIW I like Rainforest. XD

I *think* Pop was always a little more expensive than the All-Stars. Just slightly.  I’m pretty sure I remember pricing out a hundred trips and it being a little over the others, because I put off doing Pop in favour of All Star Movies… then I went to Pop anyway. 😛

Between the two of them, Annie and Dan are probably among the crankiest “We don’t like the things everyone else likes” pair of podcast hosts around. And yet they balance each other out b/c every strong opinion that one expresses, the other goes “REALLY?”

Episode 25:
Annie is ON in this episode. I don’t want to spoil it for you. But she is prepared for many, many different song stylings in the first two minutes alone. 😀

Happy birthday, Dan!  He is 191 years old today. Is anyone surprised?

I wonder if what Dan is saying is true, that it’s mainly the Twitterati that dislikes the whole FastPass+ thing and that most everyone else likes it. I know of a few people outside of Twitter who are concerned by it… but not vehemently or anything. Just they’re confused & worried. Which is probably normal, lol. 🙂

I completely buy Annie’s theory about why Disney isn’t bothering with that movie, whatever it’s called. Escape from Tomorrow? Anyway yeah. Ignore it and so will everyone else. If they try to take it down it becomes “THE MOVIE DISNEY DOESN’T WANT YOU TO SEE!!”

Oh what? 😦 Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade is going away?  I finally saw that for the first time last October and I actually really liked it. Now it’s going to be just one of those moments never to be repeated. Ah well.  It’s funny… almost every parade Disney has ever had, I’ve only seen once, if that.

What I’ve heard is that PUSH no longer has a dressing room or anything. But I don’t know. I thought they said that on 2/8. Yeesh, too complicated!

“Teachers are pedophiles all the time!” In spite of the hyperbolic nature of this comment, she’s right, I have a former teacher who was just arrested for pedophilia. Anyway – look, the point I think both Dan and Annie are making is that if there is a job that works with kids, pedophiles are going to want to have that job.  There are protective procedures in place and I think if there were not you’d have WAY MORE problems cropping up.

You sure you want to make fun of the head of a Disneyland gang on your podcast? You might end up dead next time you go to DL, Dan. 😛  That said I am HIGHLY amused. XD  WOW! They really roll out the “you are all just jealous of our amazing club” excuse? Seriously?!  Even to Cast Members? “Any Cast Member who thinks we are arrogant is just jealous that they don’t love Disneyland as much as we do!” LOL. OH MY.

Least Romantic Disney Movie that Features a Romance! I LOVE IT.  Annie: “You didn’t say ‘that features a romance’!”  D’oh. Pick, RUINED.  Now I have to figure out what my answer will be.  Ummmm… Nope, I got nothing.

Least romantic date for Disney: Chef Mickey’s is a good pick. I’d say Crystal Palace though.  Electric Umbrella, what? What is more romantic than dining under an umbrella, I ask you.

Nope, disagree with your pick for the movie, Dan. I’d say – OOOH!  I know!  Hunchback of Notre Dame. That’s my pick.  Tacked-on romance.

“Think of how many bugs would be hitting you on the face while you’re flying around up there.”
“But there are none! I watched them do it, and there are none.” LOL, thanks for that, Annie.

Aha! Annie mentioned my pick. YEP! .

Annie sounds so sad at the end of this episode. It was kind of awesome Annie! Really, it wasn’t like all THAT bad… No, I enjoyed it. XD  It took me all day for some reason but I had fun 😀

OMG YOU GUYS stop making fun of the Canada pavilion! XD  (Everyone does it, I’m used to it, go ahead.)

Episode 7:
Soarin’ was composed by Jerry Goldsmith who is my favourite composer that is not Danny Elfman or John Williams. 🙂  No, seriously, I feel like he’s the guy who wins just for his music and not for the movies he’s been associated with.

Seat of our pants!

Annie has an idea about a Halloween Party that actually IS scary, to be held at Hollywood Studios.  Similar to what Enchanted Tiki Talk kind of sort of got at (flinging ooze at people), but no mention of ooze, and deliberately actually scary. 🙂

Annie: “It gives me a weird feeling in my… stomach, or soul, or whatever.” I’m sorry, b/c I know what she’s getting at and it’s more serious, but I like that she isn’t really sure which it is.  Anyway… “Half-pint brawlers”. Hm. Agreed about exploitation.

So I tend to get really lucky and very rarely get stuck on rides. I thought we were going to get stuck on the Gran Fiesta Tour, but we just drifted for about 8 minutes before the ride came back on. Whew. 🙂

Not realizing you’re on a ride = reptilian brain, as Annie puts it.

I don’t… THINK you used to crash into the glass… I remember riding it in 1995, and the scene with the window that becomes the Twilight Zone window (and breaks) was exactly what I remembered when I did it again in 2004. Oh no, I see what you’re saying… the group of ghosts was different? What I remember is still pretty much what they have… like I don’t remember the ghosts, then the doors closing and going up, then the room where it becomes the Twilight Zone, then going up – I remember the ghosts being in the room that becomes the Twilight Zone, then the glass breaks, then they go up. But there were 9 years in between my first and second rides, so…

I was all about to say “Aw, I reply to you guys!!” but then I realized I’m listening to an episode from October so none of this matters. XD  I also actually am perpetually NOT ON and I miss everything you say, and I feel like I’d be Number One Stalker if I went back and replied to everything since the last time I was on, so…

Number One Stalker will just go over here now… *whistles*

OOOHHHH GOSSIP! 😀

I like you guys. REBECCA calm down this was from October. XD

I agree, I think that Annie would be followed to hear the things she’d say. People would love that. Me, I have to constantly watch myself…

Annie’s very favourite person on Twitter!  It’s me right? It’s…. oh. 😦

Well, I guess this is a good reason to like someone other than me. @WestcotCenter?  Following now. SEE? I listen!  (…THIS WAS OCTOBER, REBECCA…)

I actually am kind of dying to know who you are talking about, but I don’t want to encourage bad-mouthing in the fandom. If you CHOOSE to do this on your own I am not held responsible.

Like how there is now a sidetrack about how Monsters Inc Laugh Floor’s acronym is MILF. Tadaaaaaa

Underwaterland instead of Avatarland. Discuss.

OMG Dan! You and I agree completely on the Big-Ass Hat!  Though Annie’s willingness to pay to see the hat get blown up IS intriguing.

And we end on a Three Caballeros note! That makes ME happy. 😀

Have a magical daaaaay!

Mutineers part Two of Two

Just to mess with your day, here’s some more Mickey Mutineers! 😀

Episode 55:
Matt, that was really disappointing.  And Josh doesn’t care at all!  His descent into alcoholism continues.

Devil’s Punch Bowl? That sounds delicious.

Heeeeeeyyy! Tim!  He made it back from the Door to Hell!  I keep wanting to call that the Gates of Hell which I think may possibly be completely different.

Oh yeah, OK, I heard that Pixar Star Wars thing! I instantly called “No Way”, but several people say it’s a real thing… so… I’m confused. 😛

Tim and I share an opinion about the Cruise guy! Yay! Though I go one further, I won’t watch a movie with him in it. I refuse to punish myself. 😀

Tim: “Awesome so they just took parts from the He-Man movie, and… you guys remember He-Man? It has nothing to do with Star Wars, but…” LOL!  There is no inner monologue with Tim.

Ahaha, Tim just become self-aware!

And that seems to have stopped because now he’s telling us about the awesomest Nutella sandwich. “You guys are gonna think this is gross, but…”

Jake’s assessment of Tim’s Amazon.com ad is exactly accurate, he starts out awful and ends pretty strong. XD

Tim’s response to the BS game at one point sounded like he was speaking in whale.

I feel like all my comments this time around are about Tim but seriously… Tim and the billiard balls are the high point of this ep’s running gags.

Guys, Fact vs BS is a great game. Definitely do that one again. 😀

YEAH! Fort Wilderness!  I don’t know if I would stay there a year though. I just like shout-outs to Ft. Wilderness!  Josh can just go full hermit there.

Satan doesn’t get a role call!

Episode 56:
Tonight Annie is playing the role of Tim.  This is actually somehow massively awesome from the beginning.  As is the beginning of 15 seconds of mindless chitchat before “I’m recording right now…” “Oh.”

“There’s something on the wing! Some….”  *long long long pause* *Matt starts to talk* “THING!”  Yep.

They can’t have all the fairies at once? To bring Rosetta back in they have to get rid of Periwinkle? Just get rid of Tink.  Done and done.

Oooh, oh, the breakfast time difference! I can explain! It has something to do with Spring Forward which is coming up.  So 8:55am will be 9:55am when you get there.  I am pretty sure, at least, because others have mentioned this, and it happens on the app but not in the emails. It’s got something to do with how it will show up when the time change happens.

Matt’s description of how things start to come together for him, like a painting with the middle being filled in… “and tomorrow I’ll wake up like a chicken and it’ll be a whole new world!”

It’s true, I have never heard that Motel 6 joke before! LOL!!

Josh: Shades of Green’s got their own special bus.
Annie/Tim: *mimics in nasal mumbling*
Jake: Tim’s sassy!
Annie/Tim: I’m Tim.
Jake: You’re like Larry on that Pinky and the Brain episode!

Aaaaand I’m dead. XD

That Guy who parks wherever he wants in the parking lots, and ignores the attendants… LOL when my daughter and I were there, we were parking in the afternoon and an older couple of AP holders were parked in like a random section – and they were in a HUGE argument with the parking attendant about it. “Well we thought we could park here!” and he was saying “No, you’re AP holders, you know where you can park!  I can SEE that you’re AP holders!” Soooo awkwaaaard.

OMG that story of the woman on Toy Story Mania!  I’m on Team Jake over this one.

A group circle for the Trip Adviser Hall of Shame?  Darn you, Mickey Mutineers, that sounds SO DIRTY now.

“We went on Christmas Day and did not enjoy it at all!” OMG XD  How DARE other people come to the park on Christmas Day just like her!!   And she was ASKING for trouble, eating in the bathroom… honestly!

YOU DO NOT QUESTION MATT!!

Annie, you were 14 when Monsters Inc came out? Is EVERYBODY on the internet younger than me?!  I’m going away to cry in a corner. In a rocking chair.

High price of admassion?

Annie: “Why can’t I still be Tim!?” Wait, this episode has a tear-jerker ending! 😦

Episode 57:
Is this a new open segment? I’ve never heard this before.

Josh already said something inappropriate… over and over. But it doesn’t count b/c Ann- uh Tim said it last time so I’m jaded now.

Keeping with the theme of being somewhere close to Hell…

Oh listen! Tim is singing! That took no effort at all! 😀

TROGDOOOOOR!

This does make me want to go to LegoLand! And I have kids so I won’t look weird! 🙂

Hey Super Bowl talk! Apparently two teams played football against one another! Does this happen often? 😛

Here’s something that may or may not be depressing! Well good. Decisive. 🙂  I am kinda sad about Push the trash can though.  I only saw him once, in passing. He was chasing this lady around.  This left an indelible mark on my daughter, she was talking about it for months afterwards.

WORST Kermit the Frog impression ever. And I even include my husband’s Owen Wilson impression among the worst Kermit impressions, and this topped THAT. I love ya Tim. 😀

Tim took down That Guy in the Haunted Mansion and became That Guy. Bahahaha.

I don’t know any other podcast where it is SO easy to get the hosts to sing. I mean sure, Annie will sing over nothing, but she’s just one person. This one, all four will just GO.

Tim: “I’ve gotta say though, Disneyland was fun but I honestly had more fun at LegoLand.”
Jake: “No you didn’t. Moving on.”

Wha? I didn’t know that Jake and PETA hate each other! Wow! Stick it to ’em. I have to go looking for this. 🙂

And now we’re onto the uselessness of marriage? I wonder if Seneca knew what she was getting into when she asked this XD  Bahaha…

Toky-doky-o XD

Episode 58:
Well… those are several decently good inappropriate things to say!

GASP! The Flux Capacitor! This episode is MY episode.  Not literally.

“Has anyone podcasted THIS far back in time?!” I like the way that this implies that others have gone back in time to podcast before. Now all the podcasts that do that are going to comment here like “Oh you didn’t know?”

This show just devolved into Caveman noises. Which I sort of feel is like it reaching an inevitability.

…I think that was perhaps the best shoutout I’ve received. Ah geez. XD  “Lllllady.”  And they did forget Annie!

Wow! They time-paradoxed Jake out of existence! It makes sense because he’s the youngest. The rest of them will follow. I’ve seen this movie like 30 times so I realize that’s in reverse from how it works, but… this is a different kind of time travel. Yeah.

“We’re breaking new ground here…”
“That’s way better than breaking new wind.”
“I dunno, I can argue with that one.”

Ladies and gentlemen. Your friendly 7-year-old hosts. 🙂

OOOH! Yay! A Top 12! Ways to save money at the Disney Parks!  I’m sure this will be useful and relatable for everyone. 😀

Tim’s eager to go first! Hmm.  This is a… kind of complicated one. (I don’t want to give out spoilers, you know.)

Sometimes I’m amazed that no one has ever asked me what the heck I’m listening to on the days when I sit at my desk snickering.

Wait a minute. How does Josh’s plan save you money? By pouring out iced tea from bottles and pouring whiskey into them? You’re still paying for all the iced tea that you’re not drinking, even if you ARE keeping from paying park prices! This cost-to-benefit ratio is questionable to me!

So what I’m getting out of the first few selections: Sneak in booze, sneak in booze, hide snacks next to your feet, and sneak in toilet paper. And then Josh points out the gaping flaw in Jake’s brilliant plan. Bahahaha!

What are the odds?/Never tell me the odds! Well-played. 😀

And the next theme here is ways to steal food. Sounds good so far!

Matt’s #2 is excellent!  We’re behind schedule for another Random Matt, I think.

I’m distracted by the music in this commercial break. I can’t concentrate on Amazon, I’m just hearing Tim singing. XD

Cup full of pizza with free refills. Wow.

Dumpster diving in Disney?  Well, it IS cheap… but drunk girls aren’t the only girls who throw up into the trash cans. I’m just saying. As a parent. Just saying.

Points to Tim for deciphering Johnny Bravo’s question. I didn’t get that either.

Jake: “Well this is a sports question, so I’m just gonna… back out…”
Tim: “Whoa! He faded to black!”

American Pavilion: Wal-Mart and a McDonald’s Play Land. Or a lot of bacon.

If this made sense to you, then you are either a Mickey Mutineers fan, or else you need to seek professional help. 🙂  Or both! Cheers, everyone! 😀

Flerp der hey, it’s der Meekii Muutinyeers

I don’t know. That’s supposed to be a Swedish Chef voice, because nothing is funnier than the Swedish Chef voice, but y’know. I suck at impressions. 🙂

I haven’t actually STOPPED writing out my reactions to the Mutineers when I listen to each episode, you know. I just stopped posting them.  I thought I’d move on to other shows and well, the Mutineers episode slowly piled up and up and the next thing you know… You’ve got 8 episodes piled up and it’s time to dump them before things get messy. 😛

Episode 51:
This episode is introduced by Stitch. Swearing. Which I think makes perfect sense, you know!

Josh sounds really subdued in this episode so far.

Bacon soda! Oh GOD 😦  “This smells like smoke!”  Apparently it killed Jake.

I really heard the largest Apple store in the world as a fruit store too. I’m really disappointed now.

Today’s episode has the Top 9 or 12 (but really 9) Disney Predictions for 2014. Going to the moon!

Tim’s main musical selection to sing today is The Unbirthday Song.  I love slow news days.

Jake is going to Disney World in May! And NOBODY is happy with this! Except me. I’m happy. I’m always happy!  Then Tim announces he’s going to Disneyland and Jake goes INSANE.  And also Jake has a Banana Stand t-shirt and Josh whispers his amazement.  Debate as to whether this is sexy or not.  Consensus: Not.

“One Man’s Dream.” Bahahahaha. XD

Episode 52:
Oooh, a new intro!  Fun fact about Rebecca: Roz from Monsters Inc is actually the ONLY Disney-related impression I can do!

Beef curtains?  I’m not going to google that.

Woohoo, unverified rumours! I’m going to take this as gospel. Gettin’ my news from Mickey Mutineers!

Well, I remember you guys mentioning Monty Python before, but I don’t remember if there was talk of – wait. Jake has said he doesn’t remember most of what they talk about, I can make this up.  As a matter of fact, in Episode 27, you did indeed say they should add a Monty Python experience into the UK pavilion! Yep. 😛  The real answer is I don’t know. I only pay attention when there’s a part with me in it. XD

So. Frozen Maelstrom? No. Please no.

I AM STARTING A KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN FOR A MICKEY MUTINEERS RIDE. I think it should go at Animal Kingdom. Because I think it would make a looooot of people upset. XD  Also it should be a spinner.  And probably should have a glory hole, just to be true to the experience.

WHO said “I’d rather watch Captain EO, Honey I Shrunk the Audience is awful”???  FINALLY!  I’m sorry, I thought I was the only person who was glad that was gone! Woo, validation. XD

Then some Star Wars movie rumours.  A Boba Fett spinoff. I read that a while ago and I wondered if people actually still think Boba Fett is cool. I totally can’t tell anymore or if he’s in the past. Didn’t Jango Fett kind of make Boba lame?

Barnstormer vs. Go-Coaster?  I won’t spoil you on the winner! But my vote would’ve gone to Barnstormer because of how much kids love it. 😀

OMG @Detsuh inspired a porn segment!  HAHAHAHA I had no idea how wrong that would sound when I started writing it, but I’m leaving it this way XD

Tim’s “hey gang!” voice resurfaces and cracks me up yet again. XD

Now the topic of mating turtles comes up, and yes indeedy, Josh is right: this topic has come up before.

Awwww! I love you guys too, Tim! Best part: “Oh wait, we’ve got to give a shout-out to R Kelly.” silence, then a genuinely perplexed “What?!”  AHAHAHA I love my stupid name. 😛  ChiMo represent!

Seriously though… y’all are awesome. As long as you don’t mind me talking about how adorable you are when you’re saying absolutely disgusting things, which I will be the first to admit is just WEIRD of me to do, then I am beyond happy to keep being a huge fan and posting completely random responses to your shows. Yay me!

Next week’s show will be epic, with Safari Mike and Annie and Dan!

Episode 53’s COMPLETELY EPIC ANNIVERSARY so epic I actually misspelled anniversary like three times and I’m still not sure it’s right!!

So hiiiii… how ya doing? 🙂

This opening theme makes me weep. It may be because its backbone is the greatest movie theme ever written (you may disagree, but if you do, we are not friends), but really, I’m getting legit choked up with all the clips. Awww. CONGRATS YOU GUYS!  A year of inappropriate behaviour!

Canadian Donkey Kong: limitless apologies. 😀

Did he just say Date Rapist? XD  Look, for the record, you guys got an audience yourselves, I just call attention to you. 😉 Hopefully this means I get a really cool hat. XD

Tim will read the Listener Questions this time. Tim: “‘Cause I can’t read! He drew me pictures!”

Tim takes a Forget-Me-Now every night b/c his life sucks. You guys, that is a good way to get advanced-stage chlamydia.

Stop saying I refuse to come on the show! Hahaha.

I now believe that Tim was telling the truth when he said he couldn’t read. “Does everyone already know me?”

Jake, you did an awesome job with the theme song.  I rock out to it sometimes at work.

HAHAHA! Best Clerks reference ever.

I think this blog right here is proof that I do need to be on the show. Because right now I’ve degenerated into just like, answering the stuff they’re saying, when it can no longer have ANY impact. 😛

I think my beer/deathmatch question is my best.  And I’m very pleased with the answers. I did write it knowing that Ursula would be having a beer. And apparently, also Mr. Toad! “‘Ello Guv’na!  Lick my back!”

Bernard? That was Jake’s selection for who to get drunk with a while ago! Because he would get drunk very quickly and Jake could drink the rest of the alcohol! I need to look up which episode that’s in. I know I just listened to it recently…

Somebody… anybody… draw Jake destroying the inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Wood. Illustrated Death Match, Mickey Mutineers against possibly the only group they could actually win against.

Matt: “We have a cat?”

If you had to use one ride vehicle as your everyday transportation, which one would it be?  That’s an AWESOME question. (It wasn’t mine.)  Mine would be… Doom Buggy.  I could call it Dragula Jr!  I mean think about it.  I don’t ever have to pull down on the lap bar, because a ghost will do it for me! It appeals to my laziness!

Alright guys, I have to be honest. There have been earlier eps where they said “We had some huge audio problems and so this ep doesn’t sound great”, but I listened and it was fine. This time, when they say “major audio problems”… I’m afraid they’re not kidding.  On the other hand, it’s HILARIOUS.  Jake sounds like he’s talking through a voice box. I am going to listen to this anyway because I love this show, they had a lot of fun, and all the people involved are awesome so I want to hear it. But be warned, the audio problems are legit… I’m just saying. XD

There is a great discussion right now about Star Wars. Unfortunately RoboJake is the one leading it and I’m distracted by how much he sounds like EV99 from “Return of the Jedi”.

Another high-budget commercial break? I’m floored!

I love Matt not actually getting the point of this game.

OMG Annie. Wet Hot American Summer?

Mwahahaha, Annie just got Tim to sing Hakuna Matata again!  It’s so EASY.

I’m actually now really disappointed that you guys aren’t discussing your personal theme songs. I know what I’m asking next week.

Again, I’m glad I asked about the theme music, because Jake deserves accolades for that theme song. And it should be recognized on the show, and I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t know where it came from!  Actually, I remember someone mentioning Jake doing the music on his iPhone and I thought it was a joke. I never know when you guys are serious. 😛

Mary Poppins IS a Time Lord! I think this should have been obvious before now!

The “Which ride vehicle would you use as your daily transport” question, for everyone this time. Annie: “I ride the bus and it kind of feels like Dinosaur…”

A+!

Now that Dan provided a listenable version of Ep 53, here are a few comments on it as I go (since I already did like a big ol’ one up above…):

I didn’t like Mara Jade. I’ll say it LOUD and say it PROUD!  She’s a Mary Sue like every other character Timothy Zahn created.  And sadly, his books are among the BEST stuff the EU contributed.

Now I DID love The Courtship of Princess Leia.  I read it b/c I was super into Han/Leia, which is sooooo girly of me, but I like that it’s about way, way more than just the two of them. I started out LOVING the Heir to the Empire books but by the end of the third one I was sick to death of it, especially Thrawn and his ability to predict every single thing that would happen and be ready for it, except for one CRUCIAL moment in each book.  Too precise. Bah!

This second game that they play, the trivia one where everyone is unable to say their name before guessing, is a hoot. 😀

“In the mood for a chuckle, question mark?”

The best thing about this episode might be the dead serious low-pitch delivery with which Dan speaks every single sentence.  It’s like he HATES FUN. 😀

Episode 54:
IT’S STILL BURNING!

It does sound like Jake is reading off of a plaque here at the Door to Hell.

Now I know how to make the normally so-very-mild-mannered Jake angry. But I would never dare to use this knowledge!

Nice of you to play down Beefypants’s heroics. 😀

Doom Guy was indeed here, early in the ep! Apparently he lives nearby. 🙂

What’s funny is that I missed when they actually said they were talking about “Overboard”. Then Josh goes “It’s a HELL of a day at sea, sir!” and I recognized it, somehow not having heard the word Overboard spoken mere seconds earlier, and then racked my brains for like 5 seconds until I came up with where it was from. Then I thought “Wait, did they mention Overboard?” and rewound and SURE ENOUGH.

This had no point. Pretend I didn’t say any of that, OK? 🙂  I do sure love “Overboard”…

You guys are really going to sing the whole “Log” song huh?  Yep.

Ah, the Mutineers rant on Meryl Streep’s comments.  I think “Women didn’t do much” may be a poor choice of words. 😉

Hey, Left for Dead! I love that – I’m sorry, no, I’m scared Jake is going to get me if I say it.

I have to admit I don’t know a lot about Outpost Africa so I can’t join in this one.

I do however enjoy the bashing of The Living Seas!  Jake’s dislike is based on heartache and a sense of deep betrayal. 😦  If I remembered The Living Seas I’d have an opinion… as it is I’m afraid I just don’t like the Nemo version. It’s nothing to do with Nemo, I *like* Nemo. I just think that ride could be better.

I’m sort of beginning to suspect that Josh is getting really drunk during this recording…

Jake: I would dress like Donald Duck, because Eff pants!  Ain’t nobody got time for pants!
Josh: Jake, have you ever said the F-word?
Jake: Once. Mom slapped me.

It was actually just before Josh asked that I began to wonder if I had ever heard Jake swear on here.

“Yeeeeah”, mocking Josh turned into Tim doing Jay Leno, which turned into me giggling into my hand and turning pink.

Josh going “Full Hermit” at River Country, I love it!  I mean maybe not the mental picture I’m getting now, but… Somebody needs to do SOMETHING with River Country, so…

I’ve got the next 4 eps done as well but I think this is enough for one post. Tune in tomorrow as………

Enchanted Tiki Talk Podcast: the Return!

This is the TikiTalk logo, I swiped it without their permission but since I'm linking to their podcast left and right I assume this is OK with attribution. :)

TikiTalk Logo is the property of the Enchanted TikiTalk Podcast, as much as it can be when it’s also the design of the attraction logo ;)’

I have been steadily listening to this show and do in fact need to prove it!  So here, have a smattering of episode notes all at once while I do my office work. 😛

Episode 5: Filling Our Bucket Lists

Ahhhh, Ye Olde Disney Bucket List.

I did one of these up for The Dis Life podcast, but it was really rushed and had almost no thought put into it. I need to redo it more structurally. I probably will not ever manage it. 😉

Hi Katy!! 😀

Much interest in your bucket lists, and you haven’t said anything I totally wouldn’t do yet, so I don’t have much to say. I will say that I seem to recall Katy was the person who got me looking into the Wild Africa Trek at DAK, and yeah, this IS on my half-assed Bucket List already.  So is a Disney Cruise (moving onto the next thing listed)!

I’m going to admit to a weird little quirk of mine: Victoria & Albert’s is not on my bucket list.  I don’t really think I’ll cry bitter tears if I never eat there… Chef’s table or no.  I guess just b/c I’m not that much of a gourmand. I’d rather have like a spa experience than a foodie experience.

I heartily recommend a split stay. They’re awesome. 🙂

LOL! Katy, you were great, rest assured. 😉 Reminds me of how nervous I was on my podcast appearance. Hahaha!

Episode 6: Hungry Hungry Hippos

Greetings, Safari Mike! Popular podcast guest! ;D

I’m going to be breaking down and getting one of those chicken and waffle sandwiches even though my first reaction to that was “I think it might kill me”. 😉 I mean it just… everyone seems to make it sound so good now 😛

Flame Tree BBQ is so so so so so good.  Total love for that choice.  Although I’ll confess, I am not really familiar with a lot of the other counter service options in that park. I compare it to counter service locations in other parks and it comes out on top for me. 🙂

That Tamu-Tamu sandwich is tempting me though…

I remember when Tusker House was counter service! My first visit it was, and honestly, I loved it. I was SO pleased with Tusker as counter service that I was kind of peeved to have it switch to a table service buffet 😛

Rats. I’m getting really hungry.

I’ve been curious as all heck about the white chocolate elephant cupcake from Kusafiri. I’m not sure I can handle the sugar but yow!

Yak & Yeti… I’ve never eaten there (never done any table service in AK).  I think I’d probably like practically anything though. But I have to confess that the name “Yak Attack” sounds like something that will make you throw up.  Just sayin’. 😉

Episode 7: Goofing Around with Bill Farmer

This episode is the one I’ve already heard, and it’s amazing! Spoiler alert 🙂

Bill Farmer, y’all!  Voice of Goofy!  BILL FARMER!

Dawes Butler is a name you don’t hear tossed around so much anymore these days. I like Bill Farmer tossing some recognition his way. I didn’t realize he had taught voice acting, which is really, really cool. (His impression of Dawes Butler is amazing, btw. LOL.)

Voice acting used to be my dream.  Like seriously, my lifelong dream (for not my whole life).  The killer of this dream was that I am pretty good at accent impressions, but I only have one voice, and it’s mine. 😛

Bill Farmer did standup on the Disney Dream! (Yes, I’m relistening to this, but I’m still so impressed that I have to announce things, shut up. It’s IMPRESSIVE.)

AND he’s a member of Fred Willard’s sketch comedy troupe! That’s amazing. I love Fred Willard. 😀

I love how enthusiastic Bill is over the live action “A Goofy Movie” number. I mean, that was amazing, but Bill’s complete awe of it is so inspiring… Just the fact that he’s seen it, to start with!  Neat. 🙂

I’ve always wondered what it must be like for the voices of the characters to go hear themselves sort of “set free”, like in rides or wherever.

Bill Farmer waiting in line & doing Goofy voices to mess with little kids = gold.

I actually had no idea Bill Farmer was so GOOD at Looney Tunes voices. That was sort of incredible.

He was in Robocop?!

Nice plug on the new Mickey shorts!  And it’s interesting to know that they are in fact kind of related to Ren & Stimpy, in a weird way. 🙂

“There are a lot of people who are Uber Disney fans and they know things-” “Like us.” “They know things even I don’t! …I can’t even find my wallet!” Hahahaha!

Bill Farmer’s Goofy laugh is the reason I love him as Goofy. That was what, fundamentally, got me to accept him – I grew up on Pinto Colvig, y’know, although I was still young when the Prince & The Pauper came out, I was alwyas one of those kids who noticed different voices and REALLY cared about it. I was not immediately accepting of Bill’s Goofy, but bit by bit he’s really crept up on me and now I love it. Equal footing with Pinto Colvig. 😀  And the laugh is what cemented it for me!

“Oh boy, that Cheerwine sure is good!” You guys really ARE going for a sponsorship. XD

I said this when I listened to the interview the first time, but this is fabulous. You had great questions! Congratulations on a terrific episode!

Episode 8: Holly Jolly Vacation

Haha, Bill Farmer recorded a promo spot! 😀  And somehow he was able to get Goofy to join in!

I would never go to see an Indiana Jones movie without Indy in it and I don’t care WHO is playing his son.

Some new Indy stuff in the park merchandise would be pretty cool though. 🙂 And I would not mind seeing an update to the show, though I suspect that they will just replace it instead.

I’m not a huge PhotoPass person myself. I never did buy any albums but I bought a few pictures and things on my solo trip a few years back. But that’s about it.  I do think I should go ahead and do it though – if I have a large enough trip I will likely add it on.  You can amass quite a lot of photos if you care to use that system. If it’s prepaid I bet I could max that sucker out! 😀

So here it is, February. What else would everyone else be thinking of but Christmas? 😀 (Well, the podcast was recorded in December, not February. It’s just me discussing it now.)

YEAH first week of December!!  …No, I’ve never been, personally. I just figured that’s when I will go when I am able. 🙂

The Christmas party is worth going to if you’ve never been before and you have the money to spend, but if you’ve been before or if you are budget conscious… no. (This is per Sean.)  I definitely want to try it at least once. But it is going to be a cost, for sure!

CHRISTMAS MOUNTAIN! 😀

Sean comes up with these really creative holiday overlays for things. LOL! 😀

I really hope the Osborne lights don’t go anywhere. I still have yet to see them and probably won’t see them this year either. Stay until 2015, Osbornes!

Episode 9: Bottoms Up!

When I meet Sean, Alan, and Keith I’m going to have to remember that they’re tempermental and easily upset.

Hey guys, whatcha drinkin’? 😀 I’m a non-drinker so every time a show does this (and several do), I’m like “OK! So everyone’s drinking alcohol!” 😀  I do actually drink occasionally, but it’s only at VERY special occasions like anniversaries, or at Disney World.

The genuine horror over Keith possibly drinking out of a can. “Who drinks out of CANS?!”  His opinion is immediately invalid.

If you guys are talking about like, INTERESTING drinks I can listen. Not join in but at least listen. None of this girly “beer” stuff though. ;D

So I know I said I drink at Disney, but I actually only drink girl drinks. Like alcoholic milkshakes.  A margerita could POSSIBLY be considered a girl drink… maybe… so if i were to drink at Epcot I’d probably go there. But that’s going to be about it.  Beer is too strong for me. I do like a good watery pale ale though. ;P

The wheat beer that is mentioned sounds up my alley, in fact.

Frozen Jim Beam Red Stag lemonade. I didn’t even know this existed! Hmmm… is it like Mike’s Hard Lemonade?  Something in that (I think the vodka) actually causes me physical pain. It makes my neck/shoulder ache.  Weird, huh?

I had a Kirin Lager once! It was on my 21st birthday and my parents took me to a sushi restaurant. I ordered Kirin Lager because of an old commercial with Harrison Ford in it. (“Kirin Lager beero, kudasai.”)  I couldn’t actually drink it. 😛  Next time it’s Sapporo Ichiban for me! (No, not really.)

Awww, Labatt Blue story! ❤ Because I love Canada. Not because I love Labatt Blue… I prefer Alexander Keith’s Pale Ale…

Saturday Blog Showcase: The Disney Freak Blog

This post is a bit late in coming today, but it is still Saturday as I write (and will still be, in the US, for several hours yet).  The blog I was originally going to feature today has not, I found out to my regret, updated in a month or so and although I do intend to keep it on my reading list, when I feature things I want to be sure it’s more or less active (at least at the time of the feature). I know I’m not one to talk about not updating much – and I also know I say this every week – so it’s not a judgment, just that I am going to wait a little bit on that one and come back to it. 🙂

Meanwhile, instead of my original (but great) choice, I’ve found a different great one! Today we’re looking at The Disney Freak Blog!  The blog has just celebrated its 2 anniversary, like within the past month, so clearly I’m stumbling onto it late. But it is going strong, and the author, Molly, has a great handle on running things.  She combines written posts with vlogs, giving reviews and updates and things that way.  She has a review of “Saving Mr. Banks” and some thoughts on the upcoming “Maleficent”, as well as other Disney- and movie-related news, scattered throughout.

She also loves “Frozen” and so there is a lot of content there.  Rather than be one-note about it, it’s all legitimately interesting and well-put together, fun and engaging. She uses plenty of photos and YouTube clips to illustrate her posts, and there are topics ranging from how to emulate Elsa’s smexy braid ‘do (that animated gif of Elsa letting her hair down. Cannot. stop. watching.), to kids little kids covering the songs from the movie, to a review of the Frozen Free Fall app. Which I have heard is essentially video game crack and makes me glad I don’t game on apps. I’d kill my phone battery in a couple of hours. 😉

There are also all kinds of things in between, breaking news from the World O’ Dis, photos of pretty things, and more.  Go, browse, enjoy!
